ISTQB® has created the world's most successful scheme for certifying software testers.

As of December 2017, ISTQB® has administered over 785,000 exams and issued more than 570,000 certifications in over 120 countries world-wide. The scheme relies on a Body of Knowledge (Syllabi and Glossary) and exam rules that are applied consistently all over the world, with exams and supporting material being available in many languages.

The ISTQB) has the following objectives:

• To create and develop certificates recognized throughout the world, issued to participants who want to obtain the certificates of ISTQB Certified Tester after passing examinations on software tests
• To support this unique, universally accepted, certification system, managed by software and system test professionals
• To provide syllabuses whose content changes with time to reflect technical and professional developments

ISTQB is a Non-Profit legal entity whose role is to support a single, universally accepted, international qualification scheme, aimed at software and system testing professionals,
by providing the core syllabi and by setting guidelines for accreditation and examination for national boards and exam providers globally.
